This is an account of the journey(s) from policy gap and fragmented advocacy in the health sector to effective advocacy network, based on interviews and reflection sessions with a variety of people who have been involved with the network, centrally and peripherally. It begins with finding partners, then building internal and external relationships, profile and reputation in order to be an effective and legitimate voice in policy advocacy.
As the first phase of the Action for Global Health (AfGH) network draws to an end, this critical story of change was commissioned to reflect on the road travelled, spaces opened and choices made, as a basis for dialogue and decisionmaking about the network’s next phase. It is one of a series of critical stories commissioned by ActionAid to explore the evolution, dynamics and impact of three different European policy advocacy networks they are involved with.
